Classic, Hybrid or Volume Lashes: Which Is Right for You?
Lash extensions come in a few styles, and the names can be confusing. Here is a simple guide to the options at our studio.
Classic lashes
Classic is the most natural style. One extension is applied to one natural lash. The result is a defined, softly lengthened look.
It suits you if you want an everyday look that reads as your own lashes, only better.
Hybrid lashes
Hybrid mixes classic extensions with volume fans. You get the definition of classic with extra fullness in places.
It suits you if you want a bit more texture and drama than classic, without going fully glam.
Volume lashes
Volume lashes use 2D to 6D fans, applied to your individual lashes. A fan is a small group of very fine extensions. The look is fuller and fluffier.
It suits you if you want to look fabulous every day or for a special event.
Mega volume lashes
Mega volume uses 5D to 15D fans. It is the most glamorous option, with length, volume and a lash line dark enough to look like liner.
It suits you if you love a bold, dramatic look.
What to expect at your appointment
You will relax with your eyes closed while each extension is applied to an individual natural lash. Your technician will talk through the look with you first, so it is a good time to mention how bold or natural you want to go.
If you have sensitive eyes or any allergies, tell us before we begin.
Keeping your lashes looking full
Lashes need regular fills. Our fill windows are 1 to 7 days, 8 to 14 days and 15 to 21 days after your set. You need at least 40% of your lashes remaining, or the visit is considered a full set.
Not sure which to choose?
Think about the look you want day to day. Natural and light points to classic. A little more fullness points to hybrid. A fuller look points to volume, and a dramatic one points to mega volume.
Photos help a lot. Bring a few pictures of lashes you love and we will tell you which style gets you closest.
Questions to ask your lash artist
Good questions include how the style will suit your natural lashes, how many fills you are likely to want, and what to do if your eyes feel irritated. We are happy to answer all of them before we begin.
Remember that your natural lash growth cycle matters too. Natural lashes shed and regrow over time, which is why fills are part of keeping any set looking full.
Book your lash appointment online and tell us the look you are after. We are happy to talk it through with you.
